Electrical Engineer

Your work at LongPath will save more energy in one year than you will use in your entire life. LongPath is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, build, test, and harden electrical subsystems in our laser sensors. You will work across the full hardware development cycle, from defining requirements and selecting components through PCB design, bring-up, troubleshooting, and field testing/deployment on outdoor towers and other remote infrastructure. This is a hands-on role with substantial ownership and responsibility. What You’ll Do• Design, develop, test, and document electrical systems from initial requirements through field deployment• Design analog and digital circuitry, including low-noise signal conditioning, RF systems below 1 GHz, and high-sensitivity ADC and DAC interfaces• Perform schematic capture, component selection, PCB design, layout, bring-up, and characterization• Troubleshoot hardware and field failures, identify root causes, and drive improvements into future designs• Improve the reliability of outdoor and tower-mounted systems, including grounding and bonding, lightning and surge protection, shielding, transient protection, and power and data interfaces• Work across engineering disciplines and with outside specialists, contractors, and vendors to take designs from prototype to robust deployed hardware What You’ll Need• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field• 2+ years of industry experience• Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuit design• Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and debugging electronic hardware• Experience with electrical CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB design• Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with standard laboratory test equipment• Ability to work effectively across disciplines, communicate technical decisions clearly, and take ownership in a small, fast-moving engineering team Desired Skills• Analog, mixed-signal, or low-noise PCB design• Experience with grounding, bonding, surge protection, EMC/ESD, or electronics for industrial environments• RF design principles, signal integrity, and transmission lines• Experience taking hardware from prototype through production or field deployment• Python, Linux, Git• Embedded C/C++, microcontrollers, FPGA development Working Conditions• Primary work location is office/laboratory in Boulder, CO; occasional field testing at LongPath deployment sites• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (LongPath is unable to provide employment sponsorship)• Salary range is $101,000-$121,000• Equity grant
