Medical Assistant - Radiation Oncology - PRN - Temporary
Christie Clinic's department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a PRN (as needed) and temporary (estimated 5/18/2026-8/21/2026) Medical Assistant at the University clinic between the hours of Monday-Friday, with no night or weekend requirements.Duties include delivering patient care by utilizing clinical skills and completing systematic patient assessments.JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to appointment.Clean and restock rooms at the end of the day.Prepare for office visits according to department standards.Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc. and enter into the electronic medical record.Obtain patient vital signs and record in the electronic medical record.Review and respond to the electronic medical record worklist per departmental standard work.Complete lab order entries and appropriately handle patient specimens (including communicating with the patient per departmental standard work), as needed.Assist providers with procedure preparation, execution, and cleanup/disinfection, as needed.Assist with patient education regarding medication instructions, tests and procedures, wound care, and other information necessary to support patient care.Act as a liaison between patients, providers, other department team members, other Christie Clinic departments, and external facilities, as needed.Assist the department RN and other coworkers, as needed.Perform related duties as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Previous health care experienceCertified Medical Assistant Program and/or graduation from an accredited program for medical assistantsCERTIFICATE/LICENSE:CPR CertificationTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, a normal range; vision correctable to 20/20; and manual dexterity for operating office equipment are required.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a healthcare environment.
