Contract Network Techncian

Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and dependable Contract Network Technician to support the design, deployment, and maintenance of high-performance network infrastructures for live events, corporate environments, and AV-centric systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and production teams to implement robust network solutions including high-capacity fiber backbones, AV over IP systems, premium event Wi-Fi, and structured cabling. This contract role requires technical expertise with networking protocols, physical infrastructure installation, and real-time troubleshooting in dynamic event settings or client sites.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, and deploy network topologies optimized for audio/video transport (including AV over IP and Dante network architectures).Install, terminate, and certify structured cabling, fiber backbone infrastructure, and network racks to project specifications.Configure and manage enterprise-grade switches, wireless access points, VLANs, QoS, DHCP, and routing protocols appropriate for high-density event environments.Set up and troubleshoot premium branded event Wi-Fi solutions to support high client density, low latency, and secure access.Execute on-site commissioning, validation, and performance testing of network systems prior to and during event activation.Collaborate with audio, AV, and RF engineering teams to integrate networking into overall event and systems design.Document network configurations, as-built diagrams, and project notes for handoff and record-keeping.Provide responsive support for live event troubleshooting and network performance optimization.Contract DetailsEmployment Type: Contract (Project-based; occasional travel may be required)Work Environment: On-site at client venues and off-site staging facilitiesSchedule: Variable based on project needs (including evenings/weekends)RequirementsMinimum QualificationsProven experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise or event-grade networks, including wired and wireless technologies.Proficiency with network switches (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Ubiquiti or equivalent), VLAN architecture, routing, and QoS prioritization.Experience with AV over IP systems (Dante, NDI, or equivalent) and associated network design considerations.Hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and certification tools.Familiarity with premium event Wi-Fi deployment and high-density wireless design.Ability to interpret network schematics and translate them into physical infrastructure installations.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues quickly under pressure.Preferred Skills & CertificationsCertifications: CCNA or equivalent, Wi-Fi Certified (CWNA/CWNP), or fiber optic certification.Experience with automated network monitoring and remote management tools.Familiarity with network security best practices and access control systems.Background in live events or production support environments.Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven contexts with evolving technical requirements.Core CompetenciesTechnical proficiency with both hardware and software networking layers.Effective communicator capable of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of producing high-quality deliverables under strict timelines.J-18808-Ljbffr
