Senior Bridge Inspector / Structures EngineerMorgner is looking for a senior-level structural engineer and bridge inspection professional to lead inspection, condition assessment, and construction oversight on bridges, retaining walls, and heavy civil transportation infrastructure.Responsibilities include:Perform and oversee structural inspection of bridges, retaining walls, and heavy civil components — reinforced concrete, steel structures, and foundation systemsConduct initial, routine, in-depth, and fracture-critical inspections per NBIS/NTIS standards using under-bridge inspection equipment and other access methodsEnsure construction compliance with project plans, specifications, Caltrans standards, and applicable codesReview submittals, RFIs, and field changes related to structural elementsDevelop bridge inspection reports with condition assessments, deficiency documentation, and load rating supportCoordinate with contractors, designers, and client/agency representatives on structural issuesMaintain daily inspection reports and support project controls systemsIdentify and proactively resolve construction and quality issues in the fieldProvide mentorship and guidance to junior inspectors and field staffMinimum qualifications:B.S. in Civil or Structural EngineeringActive California SE license required15+ years in construction inspection with strong bridge/structural focus10+ years on heavy civil transportation projects — rail, roadway, grade separations, or similarFamiliarity with FHWA/NBIS bridge inspection protocols and Caltrans standardsExperience with structural analysis and bridge design software (AASHTOWare BrR, SAP2000, CSiBridge, LEAP Bridge, or similar)Preferred / Bonus:Caltrans Structure Representative certificationFHWA-NHI Bridge Inspection Team Leader certificationFracture-critical and tunnel inspection trainingACI, AWS, SPRAT, or MEWP certificationsExperience with load rating, scour assessment, and NDE/NDT methods
