Structural Welder

Structural Welder- 1099 Independent ContractorOur client has the need for a couple of structural welders at their Greater Cincinnati site location. These roles will be preparing fixtures/steel riggings to be fabricated and shipped from the Cincinnati site to locations throughout the country. This role will require a high attention to detail and at least three years of hands-on experience and the ability to pass a weld test as a part of the interview process. These will be day shift roles (7AM) and have plenty of overtime associated.CertificationsAWS D1.1 required, AWS D1.14 is preferredPosition OverviewCalibrate welding tools and equipment according to the parameters listed in the welding procedure specification (WPS)Analyze blueprints and structural drawings to layout the framework of a structureSecure and fasten structural components using clamps, braces, jacks, and bolt strapsCarry out post-welding treatment of structures by cleaning, buffing, and polishing finished work piecesInspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and conform to set specificationsConduct estimates to determine the cost of materials required for a welding projectEmploy appropriate welding methods in completing structural fabricationsOperate cranes and forklifts to convey metal components and work materials to construction siteUtilize manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positionsCarry out fillet, tack, and full penetration welding on steel foundations and structural joints in aerospace carriers and submarinesApply welding processes such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)Carry out welding operations under intense conditions such as extreme heights, confined spaces.Troubleshoot structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects.Fit and weld metal components for pipelines, boilers, tanks and structural steelSet equipment to weld in vertical, horizontal, flat or overhead positions.RequirementsCertification as Structural Welder- 1.1 and/or 1.14 (will require verification)Three years of hands-on experienceAbility to pass structural Weld TestAbility to pass background and Drug Screen
