We are now accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year.Job Purpose and ObjectivesThe job of Teach Apprentice is to actively work under the guidance of an experienced teacher to gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship, and complete the necessary coursework to become certified teachers.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to enroll in a teacher education program in KansasClearances: Kansas Certification of Health; Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background ClearanceEssential Functions include the following.Assist lead teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom setupSupport individual and small-group student learning during instructional timeCollaborate in lesson planning aligned with district curriculum and goalsCo-deliver lessons, lead classroom discussions, and practice instructional techniquesMonitor student behavior and promote a safe, respectful learning environmentAssist in grading and providing feedback on assignments and assessmentsParticipate in district and program-specific professional developmentMaintain accurate records, including attendance and student work portfoliosCommunicate regularly with mentor teacher and participate in coaching conversationsFollow all district policies and KSDE guidelines as an apprentice under supervisionContribute to a positive school culture and demonstrate professionalism at all timesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBasic knowledge of classroom instructional practicesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and maintain organizationPatience, empathy, and a growth mindsetCommitment to ongoing learning and reflective practiceAbility to work under the mentorship of a licensed, experienced teacherFamiliarity with educational technology and tools (preferred)Work Environment and Physical DemandsThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 25% walking, and 60% standing. The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
