To learn more about KAI, visit kai-db.com.Position SummaryWe are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Inspector to support inspection and commissioning activities on water and wastewater treatment projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that electrical, instrumentation, and control systems are installed, tested, and documented in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.Essential FunctionsInspect and document daily contractor work for electrical and I&C systems Provide detailed photo documentation of construction progress and installations Verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, and approved submittals Inspect installation of instrumentation for flow, level, pressure, and water quality monitoring (e.g., pH, turbidity, chlorine) Witness and document: Electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, etc.) Loop checks and I/O testingVerify installation and operation of control systems for pumps, blowers, valves, and chemical feed systems Track and document RFIs, Field Orders, and Change Orders Identify and report non-conforming work and support resolution with project teams Support commissioning and system startup activities QualificationsRequired Experience4+ years of relevant experience Independently perform inspections and testing verification Strong understanding of NEC and industrial electrical systems Experience with PLC/SCADA systems and field instrumentation Experience leading commissioning and integrated system testing AC/DC power and control circuits NEMA enclosure ratings for industrial environments Wire sizing, grounding, and conduit installation practices Control systems including PLC, SCADA, DCS, and RTUs Communication protocols such as HART, Modbus (TCP/RTU), EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET Required SkillsAbility to read and interpret: Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams One-line diagrams Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Control narratives and sequences of operation Ability to climb ladders and work at heights or in confined spaces Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Effective communication and coordination with contractors and project teams Work EnvironmentActive construction sites at water/wastewater treatment plants and pump stations Exposure to outdoor conditions, moisture, and industrial environments Work may involve confined spaces, heights, and proximity to operating equipment Strict adherence to safety protocols including PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures Preferred CertificationOSHA 10 (required) OSHA 30 (preferred) Commissioning or controls-related certifications are a plus This summary reflects the core responsibilities of the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Inspector and may evolve based on the candidate’s skillset and interests
