Job DescriptionPosted Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 4:00 AMPosition SummaryKiawah Island is seeking a high-potential banquet leader to enter a structured Manager in Training track within our Banquet Department.This role is designed to prepare the next operational manager by providing hands-on leadership experience across all phases of the event lifecycle — from event planning and BEO development to floor leadership, labor oversight, service charge management, and post-event financial review.This is a working leadership role. The selected candidate will actively lead events while developing the planning and financial skills required for long-term advancement within the department.Pay Rate: The rate of pay listed on job boards are auto-generated numbers. Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s actual rate of pay will be determined during the hiring process.Qualifications Minimum Education – High school graduate, some college preferred. Minimum Age – 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages to guests. Minimum Experience – Banquet serving experience required. Past Banquet Captain & Supervisory experience preferred. Any previous culinary training also preferred. Must work both independently and in a team environment. Good to excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written. Certification of alcohol awareness program, training in food, wine & liquor service preferred.Expectations & ResponsibilitiesLead assigned events as acting Banquet CaptainConduct pre-shift meetings and manage service standardsDirect room sets, resets, and breakdownsCoordinate in real time with Culinary, Sales, and AV teamsEnsure timing, flow, and guest satisfactionAssist with staffing plans and labor controlsMonitor service charge allocations and payroll accuracySupport multi-room programs and large-scale buyoutsCoach banquet staff and reinforce standardsReview contracts and operational requirementsAssist in drafting and revising BEOsParticipate in planning meetings with Sales and clientsConfirm guarantees and final detailsSupport billing reconciliation and event close-outAll other duties as assigned.You Will Gain Working Proficiency InEvent management software (BEO creation & revisions)POS and reporting systemsLabor management toolsService charge distribution trackingPost-event financial analysisAdvancement to Banquet Manager is based on demonstrated operational leadership, financial understanding, and system proficiency.Essential Physical Requirements Capable of working consecutive hours without sitting down. Must be able to work on site due to daily needs of the job requirements. Must be able to stand for the entirety of shift, while reaching, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds / trays / ovals across short-medium distance.
