Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care rendered to patients with routine, urgent or potential health problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.Ensure patient safetyAssists physicians and ensure maximum efficiency; set up for procedures and examinations; obtain lab test and other reports for physician review.Triage patients to ensure productive departmental flow.Prepare patients for exams and procedures.Administer medications as appropriate; document in patient's chart.Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner; forward chart as appropriate.Contact pharmacy to order or refill prescriptions as instructed by physician, document appropriately.Tracking of all diagnostic studies to ensure results received and patient informed of resultsTracking of all initial specialist office visit appointments to ensure patient keeps appointmentObtain (in advance) pre-certifications, PA's and referrals when mandated by insurance companyMaintain adequate stock levels of medications and supplies.Set up and stock exam rooms for daily use; keep rooms and equipment clean between procedures; keep cleaning schedules up to dateFollow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.Keep physician informed of patient's status and any pending test resultsObtain vital signs, ascertain the seriousness of the patient's complaint and begin appropriate measures.Administer medications—IM, SQ and intradermal injectionsAdminister O2 when ordered by a physicianDemonstrate a working knowledge of cardiac monitoring and lead placement.Adhere to Quality Control Guidelines; monitoring medication refrigerator temperature, eye wash checklist, O2 checklist, AED checklist and autoclave checklist.Adhere to Customer Service StandardsKnowledge of sterile techniques and sterilization process.Must have predictable and consistent attendanceSECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRecord health history of patients; note abnormal conditions for physicianNotify hospital or skilled nursing facility personnel of physician ordersCollect, label and document lab specimens as neededComplete charts and charge tickets; review and verify codes for physician chargesKnowledge of administering IV solutionsCare for wounds; assist with suturing; apply sterile dressingsSchedule patients with physician and other specialty physiciansDemonstrate knowledge of Occupational Medicine procedures including pre-employment physical exams, appropriate lab testing and treatment of work related injuries; knowledge of appropriate referral processProvide discharge instructions and reinforce physician's instructionsPrepare patient for procedures and obtain necessary consent formsCollect, label, document and track lab/ biopsy specimensContact patient of test results, schedule surgery and referrals as requiredKnowledge of surgical instruments sorting/ cleaning /sterilizationAccuracy in labeling and photo of patient skin conditions and download to EMRKnowledge of phototherapy booth/treatment/ log protocol as necessarySUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITESThis job has no supervisory responsibilitiesQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of TN (valid and unrestricted) with at least 1 year experience in a preferably in a clinic or physician office setting (Specialties may include: OB/GYN, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, ENT/Otolaryngology, Rheumatology, Neurology and Endocrinology etc.)Experience using electronic medical/health recordsAbility to work well in team environmentAbility to multi-task in fast paced environmentEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEGraduation from an accredited school of nursing RN programMinimum 1 year RN experience required (medical clinic setting preferred)CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid unrestricted state of TN RN licenseCurrent state license to practice as a registered nurseMaintains Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (CPR) and Advance Cardiac Life Support Certification Required for some specialitiesPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk up to eight hours/day; stoop, bend, twist. Assist patients in turning and arising from exam table. Push wheelchair patients and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair. Requires the ability to stand, sit, bend, reach overhead and carry 80 pounds, if necessaryWORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical setting; exposure to communicable disease, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
