THE ROLE As a Controller, you become part of the financial team for 6 to 8 clients each month. You lead their month-end close and consolidation, build the reporting package their leadership team reviews, and dig into the numbers that actually drive their business, so you can tell them what's working and what needs attention. This role has real room to grow. Controllers who take ownership of their clients and their craft can move toward Fractional CFO work, providing meaningful strategies for success to our clients. You'll also get exposure to the broader Virtual CFO toolkit: financial forecasting tied to a client's strategy, industry benchmarking, team compensation planning, and managing lending relationships. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 3 to 4 years in public accounting, plus 2 to 4 years in private accounting CPA license, or actively pursuing one Advanced Excel skills; pivot tables and macros are a plus Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Great Plains, or SAP is a plus Working knowledge of business tax basics Able to attend one company retreat a year (3 days of travel) Manages their own time well and stays steady when the workload spikes Knows the numbers cold, and can explain them clearly to a client who doesn't Applies GAAP across complex organizations, including researching and implementing new accounting standards and writing technical memos to support accounting positions Has run an efficient month-end close before, with a track record of building best practices and using systems to automate reporting Comfortable managing multiple client relationships and deadlines at once Construction industry experience (WIP schedules, job costing, retainage) is a plus Wants to grow and lead inside a growing company Leads with people, not just numbers BENEFITS Flexible schedule.
