DescriptionApex Controls is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and optimize automated control systems for customer’s manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe operations. You will help drive improvements in automation, productivity, quality, and process controls, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.This role is a full-time salaried-exempt role, the salary ranges listed below include total rewards.ResponsibilitiesDevelop electrical and pneumatic designs using 2-D cad softwareDevelop networking architectures common to the industry, such as industrial Ethernet, IO-Link, etc.Develop electrical and pneumatic bills of materialsDesign and evaluate safety control circuitry and systemsDevelop control system software, including PLC, motion control, programmable safety, robots, vision systems, etc.Develop HMI and SCADA systems, including graphics, macros, scripting, etc.Develop control system manuals and documentationPower up and commissioning of control systemsInterpret mechanical and process flow drawings to determine control system requirementsReview customer requirements and specifications to ensure compliance with electrical design and softwareUnderstand and comply with internal standards, customer-specific standards recognized national/international standards and safety standardsWork with internal staff to evaluate future projectsWork with internal and external electricians and electrical technicians in the review of control system construction and wiring, including troubleshooting assistance of both Apex Controls’ design and interfaces to systems provided by othersProvide timely and accurate feedback regarding project statusParticipate in, and lead, training of customers, both technical and non-technical.Willing participate/lead internal training activitiesActively share knowledge with peersWilling and able to travel when neededAlways act with honesty and integrityRequirementsEducation, Work Experience, and Skill Set Expectations:BS degree in engineering or related discipline is preferred and two plus years of controls systems automation work experience.Proficient with 2-D CAD softwareExperienced with PLC software developmentExperienced with HMI software developmentFamiliar with National Electric Code and other common electrical standards, including safety standardsExperience with motion control system hardware and software, robotic systems, and vision systemsCapable of working with Microsoft Excel and WordHighly organized and able to multitaskAble to evaluate multiple options and make clear and concise decisionsStrong communicator, both internally and with customers or suppliersCapable of working with and leading teams, both internal and with the customer, but also comfortable with being self-directed with minimal supervision
