Job Description
Salary: $41-$48 per hour
Qualifications
Bilingual Spanish Preferred
A solid understanding of pre, intra and post-procedure needs of patients
Must have a can-do attitude, be a team player, show initiative and willingness to adapt to change
Thrive in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
Must maintain a neat, professional appearance
Strong ability to handle stressful situations
The RN provides direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
ER, OR, ICU experience preferred
Educational Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing school
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New Jersey
Two (2) years of nursing experience
BLS and ACLS certification
Basic Function and Responsibility
Monday through Friday, NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS
Create an environment that leads to a positive patient care experience by evaluating, planning, and implementing effective plans of care and communicating with both patients and their families
Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care in an acute or clinic setting
Make sound decisions in response to changes in condition/response to treatment while maintaining a calm demeanor
Utilize the Electronic Health Record to document patient care
Effectively coordinate with physicians and team members regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, results of diagnostic tests, and critical test values
Provide individualized, age-appropriate, safe, and quality patient care during pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases
Serve as a resource and collaborate with other team members by utilizing the nursing process to promote optimum patient care outcomes
Accountable for daily clinical operations
Care for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients, well-versed in assessment, pain management, sedation, and related complications
Administer sedation and analgesia, monitor patient as appropriate
Handle regulatory compliance, policies and procedures, unit efficiencies, and quality improvement
Maintain nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
Provide information to patients and the healthcare team by answering questions and requests
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations
Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by monitoring confidential information processing
Maintain documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and clinic records
Maintain nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, and anticipating needed supplies
Maintain a cooperative relationship among the healthcare team by communicating information, responding to requests, and building rapport
General Guidelines for All Clinical and Administrative Personnel
Must familiarize self and adhere to AAAASF Guidelines and internal policies for delivery of care
Supervise and participate in team functioning
Lead by example
Ensure that the patient and family are involved in all care and foster patient/family autonomy; assess if patient expectations are being met
Ensure proper procedures are followed for reporting patient and staff injuries (e.g., fall, eye splash, needle stick)
Infection Control
Must refer to and implement all aspects of the Infection Control Policy as applicable

Possess the ability to communicate and use effective interpersonal skills with colleagues and other team members
Foster a positive work environment/attitude and encourage teamwork
Must adhere to and practice consistent with patient and staff rights and responsibilities

Must practice within the basic scope of practice for their position
Must ensure a safe environment for patients/families/staff, identifying health & safety risks and taking appropriate and immediate steps to alleviate the risk
Assist in the orientation of new personnel as assigned by appropriate staff member
Recognizing Abuse and Neglect
Understand the role in identifying high-risk families or situations; can verbalize signs/symptoms of physical, sexual, mental, medical, or emotional abuse for children, spouses, and/or vulnerable adults. Takes appropriate and mandatory actions if abuse is suspected
Notifies physician if the family is high-risk or if signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect are present, reported, or observed
Patient Education
Assess the patient learning needs
Document education teaching per policy, be familiar with various education materials including instructions regarding self-care, and distribute to clients, clients family members, and/or caregivers
Recognize and assist patients and families with additional educational needs
Demonstration of Knowledge and Understanding:
Patient Advocacy: Maintaining patient confidentiality and security
Attends annual BCLS courses, OSHA training, HIPAA training, and all other required in-services
Attends and participates in all meetings as applicable or required
Integration and coordination of care across settings and among disciplines
Safety and Emergency Preparedness
Describes the safety plan and knows the location of the evacuation meeting place, describes staff as well as personal role; understands the HAZCOM program and use/location of SDS books. Able to recognize and respond to potential emergent situations
