Senior Accountant - Capital ProjectsLocation: Houston, TX (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)Pay Rate: $45-$55/hour, negotiable based on experienceDuration: Early May 2026 through end of Q1 2027OverviewJefferson Wells is partnering with a manufacturing client in Houston to identify a Senior Accountant for a long-term contract engagement supporting plant operations and finance during a multi-year ERP transition. This role is highly visible and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on capital expenditures (CapEx), close activities, and operational accounting. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, excellent Excel skills, and the confidence to work directly with operational stakeholders and finance leadership.This position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite in Houston, with additional onsite presence expected during close and quarter-end periods.Key ResponsibilitiesCapital Expenditures (Primary Focus)Partner closely with Operations and Engineering on capital project requestsReview vendor and engineering quotes to determine capitalization vs. expense treatmentPrepare preliminary CapEx cost analyses and supporting documentationClarify scope, timing, and accounting treatment with operational stakeholdersCoordinate CapEx review with finance leadership and subject matter expertsSupport internal approval processes, including management and executive reviewsGeneral Accounting & ClosePrepare and post accurate journal entries with appropriate supportParticipate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activitiesPerform balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis for assigned areasRespond to questions from budget owners, directors, and finance leadershipSupport statutory and management reporting, particularly at quarter-endMeet tight close deadlines; overtime expected during close periodsWarranty AccountingManage monthly warranty expense and accrualsCoordinate with Warranty and Operations teams to ensure accurate GL postingsRecord standard warranty accruals and additional service campaign accrualsLease Accounting (ASC 842 - Limited Scope)Review contracts to identify potential leasesApply ASC 842 guidance to determine lease classificationUse LeaseQuery software to calculate, report, and record lease activityMaintain lease documentation and reporting supportSystems & ProjectsWork within current AS/400 ERP environment (journal uploads, data extraction)Heavy reliance on Excel for data analysis and reconciliationSupport finance readiness for a planned SAP implementation (target go-live late 2026/early 2027)QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required5+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferredStrong knowledge of general accounting, close, and accrualsCapEx accounting experience strongly preferredBasic knowledge of ASC 842 lease accountingAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)ERP experience required (AS/400 or SAP experience a plus)Strong communication skills and ability to explain accounting impacts clearlyComfortable working in a flat, fast-paced organization with high visibilityJefferson Wells is proud to offer the following benefits to our W2 consultants:*Medical and Prescription Drug PlansDental PlanVision PlanHealth Savings AccountHealth Flexible Spending AccountDependent Care Flexible Spending AccountSupplemental Life InsuranceShort Term and Long-Term Disability InsuranceBusiness Travel Insurance401(k)***** Eligibility requirements apply, including a minimum-hours-worked thresholdManpowerGroup is committed to providing equal employment opportunities in a professional, high quality work environment.
