Building / Preventive Maintenance Technician
Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Building / Preventive Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on warehouse equipment, building systems, and material handling equipment. This role ensures that machinery, doors, lifts, ramps, and other facility equipment operate efficiently and safely. The technician also maintains accurate maintenance records and supports the upkeep of the facility to prevent operational disruptions.
Perform preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment, doors, lifts, ramps, and other building components.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on machines and equipment to ensure proper operation.
Diagnose mechanical issues and repair or replace worn or defective components.
Perform major and minor repairs on building infrastructure and warehouse equipment.
Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using appropriate testing tools.
Maintain tools and machinery in good working condition and use equipment safely.
Maintain accurate preventive maintenance documentation and records.
Create, update, and close maintenance work orders in the warehouse management system.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of facility areas by identifying and removing hazards.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Assist in supervising or supporting external technicians and subcontractors performing maintenance work.
Submit reports on maintenance activities and project progress to the Facility Maintenance Manager.
Manage material and equipment requests to support maintenance operations.
Report major mechanical or electrical failures immediately to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
6 months to 2 years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, mechanical, or material handling environment preferred.
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, automated pallet handling systems, and warehouse equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues.
Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, guidelines, and basic electrical diagrams.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Strong work ethic and attention to safety.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (cold and hot environments).
Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, feet, and legs to perform maintenance tasks.
