Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Server & Virtualization

Our client is looking to bring on a Sr. IT Engineer, focused on infrastructure and virtualization. This is a rare chance to join a tenured, low-turnover infrastructure team at a globally recognized, multi-billion dollar organization with thousands of employees across multiple continents. Their on-prem environment is the backbone of global operations and this team is at the center of it, with serious modernization investments and hands-on AI and automation initiatives actively in flight. Engineers who thrive here are intellectually curious, leave ego at the door, and are energized by complexity. This team sits onsite in their downtown office, 3 days a week in the office. This person must be willing to do a hybrid schedule along with committing to an on-call rotation every 8 weeks (monthly maintenance windows are typically after hours or weekends). ***One thing that sets this role apart: You'll need real, hands-on comfort in both Windows and Linux environments - this isn't a role where you can lean on one and avoid the other. This is a large mixed-OS footprint, and you'll diagnose issues across both platforms with equal confidence. Windows-only or Linux-only candidates will not be the right fit.***What You'll DoOwn a sprawling VMware vSphere/ESXi platform; troubleshooting host failures, DRS/HA events, and switch configurations; supporting vMotion, capacity planning, and optimization.Support Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat container platforms powering real AI workloads in productionKeep a large Windows and Linux environment healthy; Windows Server (2016+), AD, Group Policy, and PowerShell on one side; RHEL/Ubuntu command-line work (users, permissions, disk, services, SELinux) on the otherBuild automation that reduces real toil; Ansible playbooks through Ansible Tower, plus PowerShell scriptingManage identity and network services: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services across a multi-region environmentMaintain security and visibility through patching, vulnerability remediation, and enterprise tooling (SCCM, SCOM, Zabbix)Support Azure IaaS operations (VMs, RBAC, backup/DR) as a complement to the core on-prem workloadParticipate in on-call and after-hours maintenance windows - this is a global environment and uptime is non-negotiableRequired5+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering, ideally in environments running thousands of serversDeep, hands-on VMware vSphere/ESXi expertise - troubleshooting, optimizing, and scaling with confidence. This is the cornerstone of the role.Solid Windows Server (2016+) experience and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) command-line fundamentals - BOTH REQUIREDWorking knowledge of DRS, HA, distributed vs. standard switches, and vMotion in productionProduction experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat container technologiesHands-on Ansible experience including writing playbooks, not just running themStrong AD fundamentals across DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Certificate ServicesPowerShell scripting and familiarity with enterprise monitoring (SCOM, Zabbix, SCCM)A collaborative, curious, coachable presencePreferredCisco UCS (B- or C-Series); this is a real data center with physical hardwareHyper-V or Nutanix familiarityWorking Azure IaaS understanding; enough to support and troubleshoot, not architectDegree optional; what you've built matters more than where you studiedMMD Services Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
