Transit Driver - Dial A Ride (Lincoln City)

Our Dial-A-Ride buses operate from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Monday through Friday. Dial-A-Ride service is available only within the cities of Newport or Lincoln City. Due to the high demand of this service, Dial-A-Ride will take ride reservations on a "first-call, first-serve" basis. Medical Rides can be reserved by customer by calling up to a month in advance. All other trips can be reserved up to two weeks advance.Same day service is provided on a space-available-basis.Rides are restricted to a maximum of a "two stop" limit per day for each customer.Drivers may leave their vehicle to provide minimal assistance in boarding and/or disembarking.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma / GEDOne year experience in transit or similar driving experience with multiple passengers.Driver’s LicenseMust possess a valid Oregon class A or B commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement and have a current DOT medical examiner's certificate.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This is a safety sensitive position and requires pre-employment and random drug testing mandated by the Federal Transit Administration. Varied shifts; must be willing to work early morning and late evening shifts, weekdays, and weekends. Work is typically in a sitting position while driving a vehicle. Subject to adverse weather and traffic conditions, exhaust fumes, equipment noises, diesel and gasoline fuel. Subject to exposure and close contact with verbally and/or physically abusive individuals. Routes start in various locations. Employee responsibility to report to start of route location or where bus is stationed. PHYSICAL DEMANDSSit in a transit vehicle for extended periods while working 8 to 10-hour shifts.Use arms, wrists and hands to turn steering wheel of transit vehicle.Use legs to apply pressure for braking of transit vehicle.Adjust transit vehicle seats and mirrors to gain necessary line of vision to maneuver vehicle safely.Maneuver approximately 600 pounds (passenger in a wheeled mobility device).Maintain full and complete use of all limbs to operate vehicle controls.Climb, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel to inspect vehicle or assist passengers.Push, pull or maneuver carts, strollers, wheeled mobility devices.Lift approximately 50 pounds or more.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
