CNC Machinist
Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerforms typical machine shop operationsSet up and operate machining center(s) per work instructionsAnalyze written specifications, drawings and rough sketches and takes verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operationsFollow work instructions and standard operating proceduresDetect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or other designeePerform the following tasks including, but not limited to: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sandingPerform inspection of machined product (including documentation of results)Complete and maintain paperwork for partsAssist in other work areas, including but not limited to, pre-form fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blastingMaintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety proceduresFollow standard operating procedures (SOPs)Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve issuesComplete other duties as assignedEducation & ExperienceMinimum four (4) years' experience as CNC Operator or equivalent technical machining certification/degreePrevious experience setting up and operating a CNC machine in a production environmentExperience with precision measurement methods and systemsExperience with computers (data entry, email)SkillsDemonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide (i.e., proven elementary math skills)Ability to read, write and speak the English language (i.e., proven elementary reading and writing skills)Demonstrated ability to converse and comprehend using the English languageDemonstrated ability to use a standard computer keyboardDemonstrated ability to use handheld measuring tools including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometer, tape measures, etc.Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawingsWorking Conditions* Manufacturing. Exposure to dust.Physical RequirementsAble to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds, repeatedly.Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures.Able to walk/stand a minimum of twelve (12) hours per day.Safety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
