As the first government relations hire, you will sit at the intersection of product, legal, compliance, and leadership to help shape the regulatory and policy environment that enables our technology to scale responsibly. You’ll work closely with executives, industry partners, and policymakers to ensure Rain is a trusted voice in conversations about payments innovation, fintech, and stablecoin-enabled financial infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to build the government relations function from the ground up and influence how next-generation payments are understood and regulated.What You’ll DoBuild and lead Rain’s government relations strategy across the U.S., helping shape policy that affects digital payments, stablecoins, and card-based financial infrastructureEstablish and manage relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry groups, and key stakeholders across federal and state governmentsMonitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to payments, fintech, digital assets, and financial servicesPartner closely with legal, compliance, and executive leadership to assess policy risks and opportunities that impact Rain’s products and expansionRepresent Rain in industry associations, working groups, and policy forums to help shape the conversation around modern payments infrastructureDevelop clear policy positions and external messaging that explain Rain’s technology and its role in the financial ecosystemAdvise internal teams on regulatory strategy as Rain expands into new markets, products, and partnershipsHelp build a long-term government relations function and strategy that scales with Rain’s growth globallyYou are likely to succeed if you have:12+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs related to financial services, payments, fintech, or digital assetsExperience engaging with U.S. regulators and policymakers on financial regulation, including agencies such as Treasury, the Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB, or relevant Congressional committeesStrong understanding of the payments ecosystem, including card issuing, acquiring, and emerging fintech infrastructureDemonstrated ability to translate complex technical or financial concepts into clear policy narrativesA strong network across policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders in financial servicesExperience building strategy in fast-moving or highly regulated environmentsExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsAbility to operate independently and build a new function in a startup environmentBonus attributes:Experience working on policy related to stablecoins, digital assets, or blockchain infrastructurePrior experience at a fintech, payments company, card network, or financial institutionBackground working on Capitol Hill, in a federal regulatory agency, or in a policy-focused trade associationExperience engaging with international financial regulators or global policy bodiesThings that enable a fulfilling, healthy and happy experience at Rain:Unlimited time off 🌴Unlimited vacation can be daunting, so we require Rainmakers to take 10 days minimum for themselves.Flexible working ☕ We support a flexible workplace, if you feel comfortable at home please work from home.
