Professional Engineer (PE) - Distribution EngineerLocations: Charleston, SC | Fort Mill, SC | Florence, SC | Birmingham, ALOverviewWe are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong power distribution design experience to support electric utility projects in the Southeast. This role requires a hands-on engineer who understands how systems work in the field and can translate real-world conditions into practical, reliable distribution designs.The ideal candidate will have experience working with electric utilities, distribution systems, and field operations, along with a strong technical foundation in power engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and review electric power distribution systems for utility clientsPrepare construction packages, calculations, and engineering documentationSupport overhead and underground distribution projectsPerform field visits to gather data, verify design conditions, and support constructionCoordinate with utility clients, project managers, and field crewsEnsure designs meet utility standards, NESC, NEC, and regulatory requirementsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designersSupport project planning, scheduling, and cost estimating Required QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)Power concentration preferred (other core engineering disciplines considered)Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)Strong experience in power distribution designExperience working with electric utilities (distribution preferred)Field experience supporting utility or construction projectsPractical, hands-on background and understanding of how systems work in real-world environmentsExamples may include mechanical, automotive, electronics, construction, or outdoor technical experienceStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Preferred QualificationsExperience with utility standards and distribution modeling toolsExperience with overhead and underground distributionExperience supporting investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, or municipalitiesBackground in construction support, commissioning, or field engineering Work LocationsThis position can be based in any of the following offices:Charleston, SCFort Mill, SCFlorence, SCBirmingham, AL
