Overview
In this role you will shape and lead the 24/7 Network Operations Center for Amazon Leo, building scalable monitoring and incident-response capabilities. You will direct a distributed team across the US and UK to maintain health and performance of the Leo network service, driving proactive improvements and rapid resolution. You will balance strategic direction with hands-on operational leadership, partnering with cross-functional teams to mature the NOC from inception to General Availability. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence how we monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex network issues at scale.

ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the NOC vision and strategy from inception through GA, focusing on robustness, scalability, and cost-effectivenessDevelop, deploy, and operate scalable network monitoring and incident-response systems for spot-level and regional health dataOversee continuous network monitoring, rapid triage, and escalation during outages and degraded performanceDrive automation opportunities and runbook development in collaboration with engineering teamsCoordinate cross-functional with Mission Operations, CSAs, and BCX for feedback and improvementsDefine, track and report KPIs (e.g., time-to-detection, time-to-resolution); conduct post-incident reviewsTravel 25–50% between US and UK locations and support other sites as neededProvide mentorship and succession planning to a geographically distributed team
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field10+ years of engineering or technical operations experience developing, deploying, and operating networksExperience delivering large-scale infrastructure products for Tier-1 mission-critical services with emphasis on privacy, security, availability, and efficiency7+ years of network management experience in large-scale, mission-critical environments5+ years of engineering team management experience, including managing managersExperience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocolsExport Control Requirement: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugee or asylumExperience supporting critical software systems in operational environmentsCross-functional collaborationStrategic communication with executive audiencesLeadership and mentorshipObservability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus or similar)Network monitoring and incident response systemsAutomation and runbook development
