RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and serve high-quality espresso drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, and other refreshments following established recipes. Operate the cash register efficiently and accurately, ensuring smooth customer transactions. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the café area, equipment, and utensils according to hospital and safety standards. Follow proper food storage, labeling, and handling protocols to ensure safety and freshness. Support Nutrition Services events by preparing and serving items in an attractive and timely manner. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required. Previous barista or food service experience preferred, but not required. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors. Ability to follow recipes, preparation techniques, and food safety standards consistently. Good physical and mental health with the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Ability to maintain a clean, professional appearance and practice excellent personal hygiene. Comfortable working rotating shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends. ENVIRONMENT The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. As a Barista, you will have the opportunity to provide cheerful service in a healthcare setting, directly supporting the well-being of patients, families, and staff. The café environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset. Hazards: This role may involve exposure to hot liquids, steam, cleaning chemicals, sharp tools, and varying temperatures, with risks including burns, cuts, or back strain from lifting.
