Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security is looking for an Experienced Structures Mechanic to join our F/A-18 team in San Antonio, TX.Position Responsibilities:Works with little to no supervisionAssists, mentors, and leads lower level mechanicsAbility to perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areasAbility and understanding of locating blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structurePerform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processesDemonstrate the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repairExperienced in the use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural partsDetailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is requiredMechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requestsMaintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned workMust be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 poundsMust be able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtimeMust be familiar with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performanceWill be required to assist other team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electrics) in order to ensure cost/schedule targets are metThis position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):7+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless7+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures7+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns6+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (i.e.. doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraftAbility to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirementsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (F/A-18Depot Level)Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipmentConflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment processShift: This position is variable shiftDrug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Total Rewards & Pay Transparency:At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
