This role manages the end-to-end flow of real-time and batch clinical messages — including HL7 ORU (lab results), ADT (admission/discharge/transfer), and CCDA (clinical document) feeds — from external healthcare providers, labs, and EHR systems into the enterprise Clinical Data Integration layer. Working closely with data engineers, clinical informatics teams, and source system vendors, this individual ensures reliable, timely, and accurate clinical data feeds that power quality reporting, population health analytics, and enterprise decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain clinical integration workflows and message routing pipelines in InterSystems Ensemble, handling real-time and batch HL7 ORU, ADT, and CCDA message flows from external labs, EHR systems, and healthcare providersBuild and maintain Ensemble Business Services, Business Processes, Business Operations, and Routing Rules for end-to-end clinical message processing — including message transformation, segment mapping, validation, and error handlingDevelop and maintain ObjectScript code for custom message transformations, SOAP web service integrations, and DTL (Data Transformation Language) mappings between HL7 and enterprise canonical schemasManage Master Patient Index (MPI) / EMPI lookup integration — calling enterprise MDM systems via SOAP web service to derive and validate Member IDs for incoming clinical messages before routing to the clinical staging layerTransform raw source-specific HL7 schemas to standardised enterprise structures — including Z-segment population, segment counting, and complete message normalisationManage File Adapter and Business Host configurations — writing data files and trigger files to shared landing locations for downstream ETL framework consumptionMonitor Ensemble Run Logs — maintaining visibility of all events, errors, and warnings across active message flows; configure alerting and email notifications for integration failures, validation rejections, and processing errorsCollaborate with ETL developers to ensure Ensemble-generated data files and trigger files are correctly consumed by the downstream file reader framework into the clinical staging layer via bulk load utilitiesMaintain and enhance CCDA XML processing pipelines — extracting structured clinical data from CCDA documents, validating against schema, and routing to appropriate clinical data containersOwn L2/L3 escalations for Ensemble integration incidents — message routing failures, SOAP call timeouts, MPI lookup errors, HL7 schema changes from source vendors, and file adapter failuresManage onboarding of new clinical data vendors and source systems — configuring new integration interfaces, validating message formats, and coordinating end-to-end testing with source system teamsSupport scalable architecture for onboarding new vendors in reduced timelines — leveraging reusable Ensemble interface templates and standardised onboarding playbooksEnsure HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI data throughout all Ensemble integration pipelines — access controls, audit logging, and encryption at rest and in transitMaintain comprehensive documentation including interface design specifications, message flow diagrams, DTL mapping documents, vendor onboarding guides, and operational runbooksParticipate in change management, release coordination, and production readiness validation for all Ensemble interface changesTrack and manage all integration incidents and enhancements through the ITSM platform, ensuring accurate classification, status updates, and SLA complianceRequired QualificationsMinimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field5–8 years of hands-on experience with InterSystems Ensemble — Business Services, Business Processes, Business Operations, DTL, and Routing Rules developmentExpert-level proficiency in HL7 v2.x message standards — ORU (lab results), ADT (admission/discharge/transfer), ORM (orders), and DFT (financial transactions) message typesStrong ObjectScript programming skills — custom transformations, SOAP web service client/server development, and complex DTL mapping logicHands-on CCDA / CDA XML processing experience — parsing, validating, and transforming clinical document structures in EnsembleExperience integrating with EMPI / MPI systems via SOAP web services for patient identity resolution and Member ID derivationSolid understanding of clinical integration patterns — real-time vs batch message processing, file-based interfaces, and trigger file mechanismsFamiliarity with enterprise ETL file reader / file adapter integration patterns for downstream consumption of Ensemble-generated data filesStrong SQL proficiency for clinical data validation, audit queries, and staging layer troubleshootingExperience operating in HIPAA-regulated environments with PHI data handling, audit logging, and access control requirementsProven ability to manage vendor relationships, coordinate interface testing, and onboard new clinical data sourcesExperience operating within ITSM frameworks (ServiceNow or equivalent) for incident management, change control, and delivery trackingPreferred QualificationsInterSystems HealthShare or equivalent InterSystems certificationExperience with FHIR R4 APIs and SMART on FHIR for modern clinical data exchange — including FHIR-to-HL7 translation in EnsembleFamiliarity with Epic Interconnect, Epic CareEverywhere, or Epic Tapestry interfaces as clinical data sourcesExperience with Mirth Connect or Rhapsody as alternative integration engines — useful for cross-platform comparison and migration projectsKnowledge of HEDIS data requirements, clinical quality measures, and how clinical lab data feeds into population health analyticsHands-on experience with SureScripts (medication history, refills, prescriber download) integration via HL7 or NCPDP messagingFamiliarity with NCPDP pharmacy messaging standards for pharmacy claims and medication data integrationAWS integration experience — connecting Ensemble interfaces to cloud-based data lakes (S3) or API gatewaysKnowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, HL7 compliance standards, and clinical data regulatory requirements (CMS, ONC)Experience supporting on-premises to cloud migration for clinical integration platformsMaster’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred#Remote
