Company DescriptionThe AVA Project - Advocating Voices for Awareness (AVA) is a disability-led organization dedicated to educating employers and the public about people with disabilities. Through engaging articles and thought-provoking videos, the AVA Project addresses questions about disabilities, particularly those from employers regarding disability inclusion in the workplace. Operated by a small team of individuals, many of whom have disabilities themselves, the AVA Project’s mission focuses on empowerment, awareness, and providing a platform for disabled voices.Role DescriptionThis is a part-time (10 hours per week) role for a Social Media Manager based in/near the NYC area. The Social Media Manager will develop and execute social media strategies that align with the organization’s mission, create and schedule engaging content across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook), and monitor audience engagement. Responsibilities include creating content, managing social media pages, analyzing social media metrics, collaborating with team members, and staying updated on social media trends to maximize impact. This role is mostly remote, and candidates who live in/near the NYC area are preferred as attendance to in-person events with the team is required. The pay rate for the role is $15/hr.QualificationsExperience with Social Media Content Creation and Social Media MarketingProficiency with CanvaStrong Communication and Writing skills to craft compelling and impactful messagesAbility to effectively manage and interact with online communitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a small teamExperience with utilizing accessibility practices for Social Media postsExperience working or engaging with individuals with disabilitiesPassion for advocacy and inclusion, and a deep understanding of disability awarenessBachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferredPrevious experience with non-profit or mission-driven organizations is a plus
