Associate Electrical DesignerWindsor Mill, MD (Hybrid – 3 days in office)Contract-to-HireWe are seeking an Associate Electrical Designer to support substation, civil, or high voltage projects. As an Associate Electrical Designer, you will translate engineer-developed markups into accurate, production-ready CAD drawings and support the delivery of design packages across project milestones.Associate Electrical Designers brought on will start on smaller-scope projects, including transformer, arrester, and battery replacements and progress into larger, more complex design work. The Associate Electrical Designer will receive hands-on training and mentorship from Senior Engineers and a team of experienced Designers.ResponsibilitiesTranslate engineer-developed markups into production-ready CAD drawings, including one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, elementary drawings, panel layouts, control wiring diagrams (CWDs), site plans, foundation layouts, and transmission line plan and profile drawingsUpdate and revise drawing sets across all project milestones to reflect approved design changes and field as-built conditionsPrepare QA checklists and ensure all drawings comply with drafting standards, configuration control procedures, and applicable regulatory requirementsSupport AutoCAD Electrical pilot projects as the team expands use of the platformCoordinate with engineers, project teams, and field personnel to verify drawing accuracy and resolve technical discrepanciesProvide drawing support to field construction, testing, and commissioning crews as neededMaintain awareness of NERC PRC & CIP Standards as they apply to design documentation and deliverablesQualificationsAssociate’s degree or Certificate in Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, Electrical Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or a related technical fieldBachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with understanding and passion for the designer career path and related experience0–3 years of experience in CAD drafting, design technology, or a related technical roleProficiency in AutoCAD or other design softwareAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specificationsFamiliarity with protection and control drawing types used in substation environments (elementary diagrams, CWDs, panel layouts) is a plusStrong attention to detail and ability to execute technical markups accuratelyProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple drawing revisions across concurrent projectsEffective communication skills; ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, and field personnelAutoCAD Electrical experience or knowledge is a plusUtility, power, or industrial plant drafting experience is a plusWhat’s in it for you?A welcoming, team environment where you will be provided an opportunity to work with a Fortune 100 company.
