Role Snapshot Location: LATAM (Remote) Schedule: Full-time | 9:00 am - 6:00 pm ET Type: Independent Contractor Position Summary The role of the Compliance Coordinator is to ensure effective oversight of Social Compliance, Vendor Compliance and Licensor Compliance. Under the oversight of the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Coordinator will also be responsible to ensure all legal requirements as mandated by the countries to which product is being shipped on behalf of the Client. This role requires a close collaboration with the Compliance Manager and Vendor Compliance Specialist. Responsibilities Factory Compliance oversight The Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for assessing potential factories for their ability to meet global standards of Responsible Sourcing, Social Compliance, Health and safety and making recommendations to Clients production teams whether a potential factory will meet global compliance standards. Support and elevate factories to work on continuous improvement to elevate their Social and Sustainability goals and strategies. Ensure that factories are appropriately registered when they are added to the factory matrix for retail customers and licenses. Ensure documentation, certifications and all legal authorizations are up to date, complete and available. Maintain internal databases updated. Similarly, ensure that deactivation of a factory is done in a timely manner when a factory is removed from the Clients Global Matrix. The Compliance Manager will provide support to the Compliance Coordinator by communicating goals and helping to prioritize workload as needed. Meet weekly to review progress in completing current job duties, discussing problems and their resolve, and completing goals. Maintain constant interaction and clear communication. Reporting & Data Analysis Proactively track and identify factories with compliance issues and work with the Compliance Manager and the factory management teams to drive elevation and continuous improvement. Identify gaps through root cause analysis and ensure corrective action plans are implemented along with long-term preventive action. Escalate factories where issues are identified to the Compliance Manager in a timely manner to mitigate the risks identified. Support the factories through critical thinking and effective problem solving in a way that they learn to do this for themselves. Ethics Always report/escalate any suspicion of unauthorized sub-contracting to Compliance Manager - this is a serious violation if previous consent has not been given by Client Sourcing Directors. All confirmed incidents must be tracked. Always report/escalate any concerns about team member or factory integrity issues. Auditor must be free from bias and influences that could influence decision-making. Since a lot of information handled by the Compliance Coordinator is sensitive in nature, you must always maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Requirements (Must-Have) A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, having worked with other global sourcing organizations, brands and/or retailers. Must be experienced in reading and reviewing Social Compliance, Health & Safety, and Compliance Audits. Should have knowledge of international labor standards and standard expectations of reputable brands/retailers including, but not limited to, Higg/Worldly, Chemical Management, ZDHC norms, SLCP, BSCI, WRAP, SMETA SA800 and other such standards. Knowledge of vendor compliance for major retailers, such as, but not limited to: Target, Walmart, Macys, Nordstrom, FiveBelow, Ross, DDs, etc. Experience navigating retailer vendor portals, manuals, guides. Knowledge of carton marking requirements, UCC labels, ASNs, etc. Technical Skills (Required) Statistical Analysis English Language skills, Spanish a plus. Social Compliance, Health & Safety and Compliance Audits (reading and reviewing) Knowledge of international labor standards and standard expectations of reputable brands/retailers including, but not limited to, Higg/Worldly, Chemical Management, ZDHC norms, SLCP, BSCI, WRAP, SMETA SA800 and other such standards.
