Youth Development Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD
AI-powered applications can instruct a six-year-old in reading. They cannot inspire her to invest in it. Closing that gap is your responsibility. At Alpha, students in kindergarten through second grade complete their academics via AI-driven apps in two daily hours. No traditional lectures. No printed worksheets. You spend half of each day facilitating one-hour workshops focused on life skills—public speaking, sustained attention, and constructive feedback exchange. A structured playbook exists, but top performers in this role tailor it to their specific cohort and create new activities where gaps appear. The remaining half of your day is spent in one-on-one or small-group sessions, analyzing Coachbot data, and coaching each student toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. Building genuine connection earns you the credibility to set high expectations. Setting high expectations demonstrates your belief in their capacity.A successful quarter means every student completes their weekly app objectives, passes the Test2Pass assessment for all life-skills workshops, and at least 90% report that they love you. Fall short on any single metric and you have not met the standard. During your first year you internalize the playbook; once you demonstrate the ability to maintain standards, the pathway opens to Lead Guide, where you mentor newer team members while continuing to run your own cohort. If you are drawn to conventional classroom teaching, prefer to receive a fully scripted curriculum, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this role is not for you. If your background includes early-elementary teaching with a focus on circle time, camp counseling for young children, youth sports coaching, or performing in children's theater, the final step before an offer is a shadow day coaching actual Alpha students. Apply today. What You Will Be DoingFacilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-2 cohorts on public speaking, focus, feedback, and other foundational competencies, customizing the playbook to fit your cohort rather than delivering it verbatim.Conducting daily one-on-one and small-group motivation sessions to ensure every student remains on track for weekly app goals, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and the personal rapport you establish with each child.Administering Test2Pass, Alpha's mastery-oriented assessment, for each life skill, then coaching students who do not initially pass until they achieve mastery.Engaging kindergarteners where they are developmentally through songs, stories, physical activity, and playfulness, while simultaneously upholding real, measurable expectations for first and second graders.Serving as the warm adult children are excited to see at drop-off AND the adult who declines to accept anything less than their best effort. What You Won’t Be DoingDelivering whiteboard lectures. Academic content is handled by the apps, not by you.Developing curriculum from the ground up. Alpha supplies the playbook; your role is to animate it.Passively monitoring kids at computers. Motivation here is active, individualized, and persistent.Adjusting a weekly goal downward so a child can meet it. When a student is behind, the solution is supporting the student, not lowering the target.Grading homework, running test prep sessions, or managing parent communications. Campus Leads handle parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist at Alpha.Youth Development Coach Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure every student in your K-2 cohort completes their weekly learning goals, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year saying they loved you.Basic RequirementsWilling to work on-site at an Alpha campus in La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, Miami, or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; or Boston, MA (relocation support provided).Bachelor's degree in any subject. At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4 to 7 (early-elementary teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership).A specific example you can describe of motivating a young child to a hard goal: the goal, what you did, and the outcome.Willingness to let AI handle the instructional content while you focus on motivation and life-skills coaching.Willingness to hold high standards with students even when they push back.Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.Nice-to-have RequirementsExperience in youth athletics coaching, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori/progressive early education, or after-school programs where you directly motivated young children toward specific objectives.Personal history of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), such that maintaining a demanding standard for others is a consistent practice, not an adopted stance.Natural performer's presence with young children: the capacity to command a room of kindergarteners through voice, playfulness, and physical energy.Demonstrated success turning reserved or reluctant young children into confident, engaged participants.About AlphaWant to join a learning rebellion that’s transforming the traditional classroom?
