CTS serves a diverse cross section of industries, in the areas of transportation, energy, medical, consumer & industrial, and many more product areas.Position OverviewThe Applications Lab Manager is responsible for leading CTS’s applications testing lab, overseeing lab operations and guiding technicians in the execution of customer part studies. This role ensures high quality, repeatable test data and clear communication of results to support sales efforts and customer decision-making. The position serves as a critical link between engineering, sales, and customers by translating lab testing into actionable application solutions.Duties and responsibilitiesManage and develop a team of lab technicians, including scheduling, training, and daily oversight of lab activitiesGuide technicians in the setup and execution of customer part studies, ensuring proper fixturing, instrumentation, and test methodsEnsure all testing is performed accurately and produces reliable, repeatable results aligned with customer requirementsOversee preparation of test reports, including setup details, data analysis, and clear conclusions for internal teams and customersCoordinate communication of study results through CTS representative networks, sales teams, and direct customer interactionsSupport sales opportunities by prioritizing lab projects, aligning timelines, and providing technical input on applicationsMaintain lab equipment, fixtures, and component inventory required to support a wide range of test applicationsDrive continuous improvement in lab processes, test methods, and reporting standardsCollaborate with engineering, service, and product teams to improve product performance and application successQualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in test lab, applications engineering, or relevant technical roleExperienced leading or mentoring technical personnel preferredStrong understanding of leak testing, instrumentation, and data interpretationAbility to translate technical results into clear, customer-facing communicationStrong organizational and project management skillsProficient in data analysis tools (Excel or equivalent) and technical reportingKey Success FactorsAbility to manage multiple concurrent studies while maintaining quality and responsivenessStrong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersFocus on delivering clear, actionable results that support sales conversionHands-on leadership style with attention to detail in lab executionCompensation and BenefitsCompetitive, market-based salary commensurate with education and experienceComprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage, long-term and short-term disability, 401K, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay
