Staff Engineer - Geotechnical

Job Description French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Geotechnical Department in Newark or Wall, NJ.ResponsibilitiesAssist in planning and executing geotechnical field investigations, including soil borings, test pits, and site reconnaissanceLog soil and rock samples in accordance with industry standardsCoordinate laboratory testing of soil and rock materials and review resultsPerform basic geotechnical analyses under the supervision of senior engineersSupport the preparation of geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundations, earthwork, and site developmentAssist with construction observation and field inspections as neededCollaborate with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projectsMaintain accurate field notes, data records, and project documentationAdhere to company safety standards and protocols during field activitiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field requiredMaster's degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred, but not requiredEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6–12 months preferredStrong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering principlesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with geotechnical software is a plusAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamWillingness to perform fieldwork, including working outdoors in varying conditionsBenefitsWe understand that a fulfilling career is about more than just the work you do – it's about feeling secure in your health, confident in your financial future, and balanced in your personal and professional life.
