Director of Accounting

The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, timely month-end close, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. This role oversees day-to-day accounting functions, supports financial decision-making, and partners closely with leadership to improve processes, strengthen reporting, and support continued business growth.The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who is detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growing organization.About the RoleThe Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, timely month-end close, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processOversee general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparationEnsure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standardsReview and improve accounting workflows, procedures, and documentationMonitor balance sheet accounts and ensure timely reconciliation and resolution of discrepanciesPrepare and review internal financial statements and management reportsProvide clear explanations of financial results, variances, and trendsPartner with leadership to provide accurate financial information for decision-makingSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning as neededDevelop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and accounting metricsEstablish, maintain, and improve internal controls across accounting processesEnsure compliance with company policies, tax requirements, audit standards, and applicable regulationsCoordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partnersSupport annual audits, tax filings, and other compliance activitiesIdentify risks and implement process improvements to strengthen financial controlsLead, coach, and develop members of the accounting teamProvide direction, accountability, and support for accounting staffCreate a culture of accuracy, ownership, continuous improvement, and collaborationAssist with hiring, training, performance management, and workload planning for the accounting functionEvaluate existing accounting systems, workflows, and proceduresRecommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and visibilitySupport system upgrades, integrations, automation, and reporting enhancementsPartner cross-functionally with operations, HR, sales, and leadership to improve financial processes QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredCPA preferred7+ years of progressive accounting experience3+ years of accounting leadership or management experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience leading month-end close and preparing financial statementsStrong understanding of internal controls, reconciliations, and accounting operationsExperience with accounting systems, ERP platforms, and reporting toolsAdvanced Excel skills preferredStrong attention to detail, organization, and follow-throughAbility to communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting leadersHigh level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism Required SkillsStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience leading month-end close and preparing financial statementsStrong understanding of internal controls, reconciliations, and accounting operationsExperience with accounting systems, ERP platforms, and reporting toolsAdvanced Excel skills preferred Preferred SkillsCPA preferred7+ years of progressive accounting experience3+ years of accounting leadership or management experienceEqual Opportunity StatementWe are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices.
