Sag Harbor Tavern — Maître d’ / Host Sag Harbor, NY Sag Harbor Tavern, the sister restaurant to Red Hook Tavern, brings classic American tavern fare to the waterfront village of Sag Harbor. Built on the same warmth, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality as our original location, the restaurant highlights exceptional seafood from the surrounding waters. We’re looking for an experienced Maître d’ / Host to play a central role on the team. This position sets the tone for the entire guest experience, managing the door, guiding the flow of service, and acting as a key point of communication between the dining room and kitchen. The Role The Maître d’ / Host leads the front door with confidence, warmth, and strong awareness of the restaurant as a whole. You’ll manage a high-volume reservation book across both indoor dining and our outdoor patio, working closely with the service team, kitchen, and General Manager to ensure service runs smoothly and guests feel taken care of from the moment they arrive. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing a complex book and keeping a busy restaurant organized and flowing. What You’ll Do Greet guests and manage the front door with a warm, confident presenceOversee reservations and waitlists with accuracy and attention to detailManage a high-volume book across indoor and outdoor seatingControl the flow and pacing of the restaurant throughout serviceCommunicate clearly with both front and back of house on covers, pacing, VIPs, and special requestsAdjust seating and timing in real time to support a smooth serviceMaintain an organized and composed host standAssist with opening and closing responsibilities as needed What We’re Looking For Friendly, polished, and approachable with a strong sense of hospitalityExperience using Resy preferred, or strong familiarity with reservation systemsStrong communication skills and ability to keep both front and back of house informedCalm under pressure, with good judgment in a fast-paced environmentDetail-oriented, organized, and proactiveInterest in food, wine, and cocktailsReliable and punctualAbility to stand or walk for extended periods and lift 40+ lbsWeekend availability required*Important Note - We are not offering housing for this role, so applicants should be able to commute to Sag Harbor.
