You will work with all levels of public agency clients to make mobility safe, efficient and sustainable for everyone. Responsibilities will include project business development, client relationship management, and staff mentorship within transportation planning, engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and emerging technology space to support regional growth objectives. The successful candidate will have specific transportation and ITS industry working experience and knowledge at the state, regional, and local levels across Texas. The candidate will have a successful and demonstrable track record of transportation and ITS business capture within the Texas market with emphasis on regional and local levels. This opportunity is available as a remote position and you must reside in Texas, preferably in the Austin, San Antonio, or Houston areas.What you will be doing:Lead and manage Texas business strategy development and execution to meet Texas business objectivesConduct business development activities related to technical ITS, emerging technology, and traffic operations projects, including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiationsProvide business development leadership in any combination of the following: traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, system integration, connected and automated vehicle, and tollingDevelop and serve a state, regional and local client base in Texas by providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning servicesServe as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge for large multi-disciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projectsSupport technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projectsOutreach/communicate Iteris consultant services capabilities through direct client engagement, conference presentations, professional society/organization/chapter involvement and interactionManage, mentor, and provide leadership to senior business development, project management, and professional staff to support their growth and developmentParticipate in professional organizations at various levels (local, State, and/or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations and non-technical (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) developments in traffic and transportation techniques and practicesLocal and Statewide travel as required - Develop and serve a client base providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning services - Conduct business development activities including premarketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiationsCultivate strategic thinking to grow business and increase client retention ratesPeriodically participate in coordination meetings and consult with other staff and division leadersDefine client needs and develop a plan and proposal to address business capture and regional growthWhat you need to be successful in this role:Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) required, field of study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desiredAt least twenty (20) years as a demonstrated expert in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industriesAt least fifteen (15) years' experience in a leadership role. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is preferredAt least fifteen (15) years' experience in business development within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations industryAt least fifteen (15) years' experience working with and capturing projects with state, regional and/or local public transportation agencies in Texas.Successful track record of public sector client serviceExtensive experience working with Major public sector clients in Texas as a consultantStrong leadership and communications skills to interact with internal staff and externally with clients and regulatory agenciesUnderstanding of state, regional, or local transportation industry in general with a strategic market understanding of trends affecting the future of transportation. Knowledge and experience related to transportation engineering, ITS, and emerging technology in Texas is preferredPassion for the transportation industryIteris anticipates paying a base salary between $193,600 and $215,600 for this role.
