Job DescriptionRegistered Nurse40h per week ON call discussed with manager Must be able to complete ALL Card Cath procedures, independently, including PPM, ICD's, peripheral, vascular, IR procedures. Must be able to perform radial and femoral approach. Specialized skills include Impella, Penumbra, Inari, IABP, Angiojet, Rotoblator, Laser, ShockWave, CO2 commander, and more. Must live Ochsner's values of Patients first, compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork, and inclusivity, and assume the role of a dedicated, full time employee.EducationRequired - Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.CertificationsRequired - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly andprofessionally.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability) and travelthroughout and between facilities.Job DutiesVerifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may includeplacement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performingnotification/remediation as warranted.Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance,etc.).Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, methodof introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requestingpermissions and communication style.Performs other related duties as required.The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid andtissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directlywith patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupationalrisk for exposure to all communicable diseases.Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure tohazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage,preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
