In this role, you will support a geospatial and data-focused program, serving as a Python Subject Matter Expert (SME). You will provide technical guidance, development support, and code review for internal teams, helping drive high-quality, scalable solutions.The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Python development, data processing, and geospatial tools, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Work Environment: Flexible/remote, with occasional on-site support as needed.Primary ResponsibilitiesServe as a Python SME, advising teams on best practices and development approachesSupport the development, enhancement, and implementation of Python-based applicationsDesign, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy both interactive and batch softwareReview, refine, and improve existing Python codebasesTroubleshoot issues and recommend enhancements to improve system performanceProvide recommendations for project tracking and control systemsSupport geospatial data processing and visualization using Python-based toolsLead analysis, data modeling, and technical design across the software development lifecycle (SDLC)Develop and execute test cases, including functional and integration testingResearch and integrate new tools and technologies based on evolving requirementsRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)10+ years of software development experience5+ years of Python and/or shell scripting (front-end and back-end)3+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL)3+ years working in Linux/Unix environmentsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProven experience documenting requirements, designs, and user guidanceDesired QualificationsExperience working in Agile development environmentsData analysis or data science experience, particularly with large datasetsExperience developing web services and APIsFamiliarity with Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Struts, Hibernate)Experience with batch processing and system integrationsExperience with geospatial tools and libraries such as ArcGIS, GeoPandas, or QGISCertifications (Preferred)Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Python, cloud, or GIS-related certifications) are a plusOther InformationClearance: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Background checks may include Criminal History, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Professional Certifications, and Credit History.
