You'll have real ownership over your matters, with the support and structure needed to succeed.Here, you'll find:A steady, high-quality workflow with complex and varied mattersStructured mentorship and hands-on guidance from senior attorneysClear pathways for professional growth and developmentMarketing and business development support to help you build your practiceA collegial culture where people genuinely work well togetherReasonable billable expectations that support sustainable careersAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney (4-7 years) to represent cooperative and condominium boards in a wide range of transactional, corporate, governance, and operational matters.You will act as outside general counsel to boards, advising on both day-to-day issues and complex legal matters involving governance, compliance, finance, and regulatory requirements.This is a highly client-facing role with significant autonomy, paired with strong internal collaboration across a well-established real estate practice group.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise condominium and cooperative boards on governance matters, including bylaws, proprietary leases, declarations, house rules, and annual meetings/electionsServe as primary counsel to cooperative boards, including Mitchell-Lama and other regulated housing entitiesProvide guidance on compliance with city, state, and federal laws, including environmental regulations, building codes, and local statutesCounsel boards on fiduciary duties, corporate governance, and financial mattersDraft and negotiate contracts, including construction, engineering, architectural, and property management agreementsHandle access agreements and coordinate closely with litigation colleagues when neededSupport boards in navigating operational issues and long-term planningQualifications4-7 years of experience representing cooperative and condominium boardsStrong understanding of co-op/condo governance, housing law, and regulatory frameworksExcellent drafting, negotiation, and client communication skillsAbility to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating effectively with a teamAdmission to the New York State Bar requiredBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with firm contributionGenerous PTO and paid holidaysPaid parental leaveLife and disability insuranceWellness and employee assistance programs
