Controls Engineer

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in control systems design, automation, and programming. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for the utility-scale solar sites we manage.Key ResponsibilitiesControls System Design:Collaborate with control room operators, field personnel, engineers and the OT team and electrical, and software engineers to design, develop and optimize control systems for solar sitesDesign and modify control architectures, including selection and integration of sensors, actuators, PLCs, RTACs and other hardware componentsDevelop and implement control algorithms to achieve desired system performance, accuracy, and reliabilityProgramming And ImplementationProgram and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other control devices to execute desired control strategiesScript and implement software for automated control, data acquisition, and real-time monitoringTroubleshoot and debug control software to ensure smooth system operation.Integration And TestingIntegrate control systems with mechanical components, electrical systems, and software applicationsConduct thorough testing and validation of control systems, including simulation and real-world testing involving control room operators and field personnel to ensure proper functionality and safetyQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred.4+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or a related field.Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and HMI/SCADA systems.Strong understanding of control system theories, algorithms, and principles.Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP).Familiarity with hardware components such as sensors, actuators, relays, SEL, GE/Emerson, Red Lion devices.Ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues and implement effective solutions.Benefits401(k) with employer matchHealth Insurance Dental InsuranceVision Insurance Flexible Spending Account Health Savings AccountShort-term and Long-term disability Critical illness Paid Time OffParental LeavePaid HolidaysEmployee assistance programLife insuranceOpportunities for advancementTraining and Development Legal and Identity TheftPet Insurance Act Power Services does not accept any unsolicited resumes or referrals from any third-party recruiting firms or agencies
