Physical Therapy Assistant
Position Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides rehabilitative services to residents under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA assists in implementing treatment plans designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, restore function, and promote independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and mobility interventions.
Document resident progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Educate residents and families on exercises and home programs.
Assist with equipment setup and maintenance.
Contribute to interdisciplinary team discussions regarding resident care.
Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in the state of Rhode Island.
Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
Previous experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
Skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
Direct interaction with residents, requiring physical stamina and flexibility.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as part of resident care and equipment handling requirements.
