With its two Fargo, N.D., facilities, an experienced team of electrical, mechanical and software engineers bring power solutions to life with cutting edge prototyping equipment, battery cell welding, automated testing, and an SMT line allowing assembly of printed circuit boards to IPC Class 3 standards.Job PurposeA Lead Electrical Engineer performs the duties of both an experienced electronic design engineer and a department supervisor. The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for quoting new projects, leading the electrical hardware development of one or more projects, promoting the growth of less-experienced engineers, and developing Packet Digital’s development processes and best practices. Candidates must be able to work in a team-based environment, lead by example, and have the ability to meet deadlines.Description of Duties & TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Represent and lead the hardware engineering teamCheck in with team members regularly to provide guidance and ensure productivityRepresent team in status, planning, and strategy meetingsWork with program management to prioritize work and assign resources to projectsAssist with proposal writing and quoting effortsApprove timesheets and vacationExecute employee performance reviewsOversee hardware design and documentation processesEstablish, improve, and document effective processesEnsure work is completed in accordance with correct processesActively participate in or lead design reviewsAssist in maintaining component and project databaseCreate requirements captures based on experience and customer inputResearch applicable topicsPropose, simulate, and validate proposed architectures and circuitsProvide project timeline estimatesCreate schematics and PCB layouts based on requirementsDocument assembly, BOM, and ECO informationSchedule schematic and layout reviewsProduct developmentCost and manufacturing optimizationWork with other teams and team members to complete all aspects of product designAssembly, testing, and troubleshooting of designsCreate customer documentation and support customersPromote a healthy team environmentMaintain a clean lab and workspaceProvide learning opportunities for engineersEncourage open, blame-free discussionsSeek and promote ideas from all team membersBe a multiplier for the rest of the teamKnowledge & SkillsRequired:Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsHighly organized with attention to detailExtensive PCB design experienceStrong communication skills in order to work with team to determine specifications and to provide support for a productExperience with test equipment operation including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power suppliesConflict resolution and diplomacy skillsExpert knowledge of best practices for product designWork Experience & EducationRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and eight years of related experience
