This position has primary responsibility for print materials, newsletters, online content, and engaging the public to increase agency visibility.Essential Job FunctionsFundraising and DevelopmentWith the Development Director, creates, updates, and implements annual fundraising plans to increase revenue for the agencyCoordinates fundraising campaigns (including annual direct mail appeals) and special events to secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations/businessesSupports, solicits, thanks, and engages donors to meet fundraising goals; assists with stewardship of major donors, planned giving, and foundation relationshipsManages donor database; creates and generates acknowledgements, receipts and thank you notes in a timely mannerServes as primary point of contact for in-kind donors and supporter inquiriesMaintains grant files, including potential funder info and grant applications submittedAssists with researching potential sources of grant funding, writing letters of intent and grant applications, and maintaining schedules for private foundation grant applications, reports, and renewalsMarketing and CommunicationsCoordinates and designs online and print communications for the agency, including newsletters and e-news, agency/program marketing materials and promotional display, annual report, social media, and website contentCoordinates awareness-raising events and advocacy-related publicityMaintains agency mailing lists and designs strategies to reach/engage different audiencesInterviews and interacts with staff and youth clients; uses data and real-life examples to tell the story of agency’s impact and resultsConducts tours and represents agency for presentationsAdministrative and Community EngagementInteracts with staff, youth/clients, donors, volunteers, and the public in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner; models respect and encourages culture of philanthropyMaintains strict confidentiality of client, agency, and donor informationUtilizes fundraising and marketing data to monitor and report on campaigns and resultsAssists with compilation of agency client data into reports and dashboards for use in grant applications, reporting, quality assurance, and development/marketing effortsOther duties as assignedSpecifications And QualificationsEducation and Training:Training in nonprofit fundraising, development, public relations, and event planning preferred.Job Related ExperienceExperience in non-profit development work and/or successful fundraising required, including direct mail appeals; events; use of CRM/donor database (Givebutter); and marketing or public relations. Familiarity with youth development or homeless programs, and advocacy preferred.Specialized SkillsExcellent communications skills, both written and oral; ability to engage and influence others via phone, email, and in person. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Able to work independently and as a team. Windows-based computer, word processing, layout, mail merge, Excel, and web/social media skills required. Data analysis, database, graphic design or photography/video skills, and valid driver’s license preferred.Cognitive RequirementsAble to communicate and write skillfully in English, and compose original content and correspondence with excellent readability. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to self teach/self-directed. Flexibility and ability to multi-task is a must.Physical RequirementsAble to sit for long periods, climb stairs, lift and sort donations, use a computer, speak in public, and travel to community sites. Able to lift 10 pounds or moreWork EnvironmentOffice environment and various community settings. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) in-person office position with work performed during normal weekday business hours.
