Survey Data Technician

Job Title: On-Site Survey Data TechnicianJob Summary:The On-Site Survey Data Technician is responsible for collecting, processing, and managing survey data in the field to support engineering, construction, and land development projects. This role ensures accurate data capture using survey equipment and software, maintains data integrity, and assists in translating field measurements into usable deliverables.Key Responsibilities:Operate survey equipment such as GPS units, total stations, and data collectors to gather accurate field dataRecord, organize, and verify survey data in real time while on-siteDownload, process, and perform quality checks on collected dataAssist survey crews with layout, staking, and as-built data collectionMaintain and troubleshoot survey equipment and data collection toolsCoordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure data meets project requirementsPrepare field notes, reports, and documentation for project recordsEnsure compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirementsIdentify and resolve discrepancies or errors in survey dataQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred)Experience with survey equipment (Trimble, Leica, Topcon, etc.)Familiarity with survey software and data processing tools (e.g., Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble Business Center)Basic understanding of surveying principles and construction practicesStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditionsGood communication and teamwork skillsValid driver’s licensePreferred Skills:Experience with pipeline, oil & gas, or construction surveyingKnowledge of coordinate systems and data management workflowsAbility to read and interpret plans and technical drawingsWork Environment:Primarily field-based with exposure to outdoor conditionsMay require travel to project sites and extended work hours depending on project needs
