We look forward to welcoming a dedicated physical education teacher to our team!Major ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate for this position must be able to: Develop and implement an engaging physical education curriculum for middle school students. Incorporate a variety of activities and games to enhance students' motor skills, coordination, and fitness levels. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Cultivate a caring environment that supports the academic progress and socioemotional development of each student. Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development. Supervise and ensure the safety of students during physical education classes and extracurricular activities. Coach in at least one sport at the Middle school (grades 58) or High school (grades 912) level. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education concepts across the curriculum in a manner that facilitates the transition to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum framework. Share responsibilities for curriculum development as well as other departmental and divisional priorities, including national and international student trips. Proactively communicate with students, parents, and administration about student progress or concerns. Serve as a student advisor. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field (Master's degree preferred). Experience teaching physical education at the middle school level. Coaching experience in one or more of the following sports: swim, golf, cross country, tennis, basketball, sailing, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, track and field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Dedication to promoting health and wellness within the school community. Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities. Preferred Qualifications Valid teaching certification/license. CPR and First Aid certification. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in physical education instruction. Strong communication skills. Strong knowledge of and experience in teaching in the IB MYP curriculum framework is preferred but not a requirement.
