Part-time Speech Language Pathology Proctor Paraprofessional

SUMMARY This position is responsible for assisting in educational settings by working with the class, small groups or individual students to help them take full advantage of the instructional program administered. Qualifications Professional Educator License OR Substitute License from ROE OR Paraprofessional License through the Illinois State Board of Education OR Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of college or university coursework; or Hold an Associate’s (or higher) college degree; or successfully pass the ACT WorkKeys Assessment Test or the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test along with a high school diploma or its equivalent. DUTIES May work with/handle resistive students. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. Assists the classroom teacher in other tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive classroom environment and performs other duties as may be assigned by the classroom teacher, administration or Board of Education. Works with individual students or small groups of students to assist with Speech. Must be adept with working and troubleshooting technology, specifically computers. Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervention in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed. CPI training required. Alerts administration to any problem or special information about an individual student or students during their speech minutes. Monitors and assists individual special education students during speech for the purpose of ensuring the safety of assigned students. Assist in the supervision of lunch and recess when needed. Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties. Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, administration. Maintains confidentiality and respects the integrity of the student.. QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; completed 60 semester hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; passed the ETS ParaPro assessment; or passed the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments. Must have excellent Oral and Written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Requires employees to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs. Must be detail oriented.
