Mechanical EngineerMightyFly is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our Airframe team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of various mechanical systems and primary structure onboard MightyFly's hybrid-electric eVTOL aircraft.This role requires a strong fundamental understanding of structures, load paths, requirements traceability, and weight-sensitive design. Our ideal candidate must be self-motivated, passionate about hybrid eVTOL aircraft development, and able to quickly adapt to direction changes.The candidate must have a strong interest in working in a small, fast paced team where a variety of skills will need to be applied day to day, and in which new skills will constantly need to be learned.What You'll DoCollaborate with our multi-disciplinary engineering teamRapidly prototype new designsWork with consultants, vendors, and contractors to realize designsDevelop test procedures and test new designsHands on production support to validate new designs and bring up productionDesign test fixtures to validate designs against requirementsDocument designs and test for the purpose of FAA certificationCommunicate effectively and clearlyMust be self-motivated and a great team workerWhat You'll BringTechnical 2+ years mechanical engineering experienceEducation level: Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and/or AerospaceCAD proficiencyExperience designing mechanical assemblies in automotive or aerospace, such as airframe structures, gearboxes, drivetrain, transmission, landing gear, doors, etc…Experience designing metallic partsExperience designing test fixturesExperience with GD&TExperience with FEA/FEMExperience designing safety critical hardware.Planning & Partnering Ability to plan and deliver on timeAbility to translate product requirements into technical implementation plansOrganizational skillsWritten and verbal communication skillsGeneral A passion for building systems from the ground upA can-do attitude for tackling and solving complex problemsBe a self-starter with the ability to work and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentNice to have Experience designing composite partsExperience with high power electric motors and drivetrainsExperience with 3DExperience/CATIAExperience with internal combustion engines.
