About UsAlterna Equity Partners (“AEP”) is a lower middle market private equity firm focused on making control and significant minority investments in private, founder- and family-owned companies located in the U.S. The firm is actively investing out of its inaugural committed fund, Alterna Equity Partners Fund I, L.P. (“AEP Fund I”). AEP Fund I is targeting 6-8 platform investments across a variety of sectors plus additional add-on acquisitions and currently has three platform investments in its portfolio. AEP targets equity investments of $10-20MM per portfolio company (larger with equity co-investment) in companies with $10-150MM of revenue and $3-15MM+ of EBITDA. The team is focused on control investments, with a strong preference for transactions where the founder and / or management team will have significant economic alignment alongside AEP post-closing. Job Description and Responsibilities Based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the Associate will be an integral part of a small, growing team and work closely with the firm’s partners to execute on the investment strategy. The Associate will be expected to have a broad range of responsibilities involving all aspects of the investment and diligence process, portfolio management, fundraising and investor reporting. The Associate’s primary responsibilities as an investment professional include the evaluation, sourcing, selection, diligence and execution of transactions, as well as creating long-term value by actively managing portfolio companies to drive growth and business transformation. Specific duties include analyzing and screening new opportunities, building complex financial models, conducting detailed company, industry and competitive landscape research and diligence, developing investment committee memos and diligence presentations, evaluating historical financial, customer and product-level trends, conducting valuation analysis, helping manage third party diligence providers and actively working with existing portfolio companies. Transaction types will include LBOs, recapitalizations, management buyouts and growth investments.
