Medical assisting duties include patient triage, vital signs, patient history, EKG, injections, and using the electronic health record.Essential Functions:Obtains medical history, triage patients, record vitalsReconciles medication list in EHRResponds timely and appropriately to tasksReports any abnormal results to physician immediately (i.e. labs, etc.)Ensures all appropriate patient information is scanned into EHRAssists physician in exam room as needed (i.e. suture/staple removal, dressing changes, minor surgical procedures)Contacts medical facilities or department to schedule surgery/test or hospital admissionsCodes all diagnosis and procedures appropriately to obtain insurance authorizations/appealsExplains surgical procedures/processes to patients and familiesMaintains physician's surgery schedulesAnswers multi-line phone system, triage calls, and direct messages to appropriate personnel and locationsSchedules new and established patient appointments; register patients by obtaining paperwork, insurance cards, and copaymentsOther Functions:Maintains clean exam roomsCompletes KASPER query for appropriate medicationsCompletes school/work statements, FMLA paperwork, and other patient formsChecks patients out and schedule any necessary follow up appointmentsOrders of office supplies, maintain waiting area, and make new patient packetsGeneral office maintenance and housekeepingComplete reporting and tracking as requestedMaintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conductComplies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all timesPerforms other duties as assignedAdditional Job Description:Education:* High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)* Medical Assisting Degree (preferred)Experience:* One year of medical assisting experience working in a medical facility and or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office (preferred)Certifications:* Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization. (Such as: CMA, CCMA, or RMA) (required)* Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
