At SiteQuest, we ensure every project is conducted with a commitment to safety and accuracy, above and below ground.Role DescriptionWe are seeking a technically competent, field-experienced utility locating professional who can also function as an operations manager. The Operations Manager will initially join on a part-time, probationary basis, with workload, compensation, and benefits expanding as the individual demonstrates technical capability, leadership, client-facing effectiveness, relationship building, and business development value commensurate with an Operations Manager title. This position blends hands-on locating expertise and project management / operational leadership to help grow our professional utility locating service line.QualificationsPrior project management experience in excavation oversight, construction, remediation, or civil field operations.A passion to provide a safe customer experience in a professional manner.Ability to read and interpret utility maps, as-builts, plats, site plans, and construction drawings.Valid, clean driver’s license and ability to travel to initial training and to job sites.Valid TWIC or ability to pass an FBI criminal background check and obtain TWIC.Strong communication skills with contractors, clients, and internal teams.Demonstrated hands-on experience in utility locating. You will be trained at our contract training facility to meet SiteQuest’s risk requirements, regardless of experience level.Strong working knowledge of electromagnetic locating methods, GPR concepts, and field verification techniques.Ability for daily regional travel, occasionally overnight.Core Responsibilities1. Technical Utility Locating Perform underground utility locating on private commercial, residential, and industrial property using electromagnetic locating equipment, GPR, GPS, and related technologies.Apply prior excavation, construction, or environmental site remediation experience to evaluate dig plans and field conditions.Interpret utility records, as-builts, survey drawings, and GIS data to support accurate locate decisions.Ensure utility markings comply with industry’s best practices.Identify constructability issues, undocumented utilities, and risk exposure early in projects.Serve as the technical authority for complex or high-risk locating scenarios.Daily travel within 100 miles of zip code 08869 should be expected. A company owned vehicle will be provided to service client needs.Excellent writing skills and ability to provide reports and schematics of findings identified in the field.2. Operations ManagementEstablish and refine locating workflows, documentation standards, and QA/QC procedures.Develop schedules, prioritize workloads, and coordinate field personnel technicians.Track job performance, productivity, and profitability.Assist in equipment selection, maintenance schedules, and technology adoption.3. Project ManagementManage utility locating projects from intake through delivery.Serve as the primary point of contact for select clients and projects.Prepare scope definitions, schedules, and execution plans.5. Business Development SupportSupport development of new client relationships and expansion of existing accounts.Provide scoping, pricing, and proposal development for utility locating and related services.Identify opportunities to bundle utility locating with complementary services.Represent the company professionally in the field and with clients.Attend industry conferences & business networking events.6. Leadership & TrainingMentor and guide future hires.Help define training standards and field competency benchmarks.Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.Physical & Work ConditionsCombination of home office-based coordination and outdoor fieldwork.Ability to drive safely long distances without distraction.Ability to walk several miles each day across job sites, lift equipment (up to 50 lbs), and work safely in varying weather conditions.Flexible scheduling appropriate to an initial part-time probationary role.Compensation & Growth PathInitial Status: Part-time of 24-30 hours per week (variable), probationary (estimated six months) to evaluate fit and contributionCompensation: Based on experience, technical depth, and operational responsibilitiesGrowth Path: Performance based transition to full-time role with benefits as scope, revenue impact, and leadership responsibility expandBenefits: To become commensurate with the value and responsibilities the employee brings to the organizationWhy This Role Is DifferentThis is not a production-only locator role.
