DescriptionPosition Summary
The Office of Sponsored Programs seeks a mission-driven Post Award & Compliance Specialist to support strong stewardship of federal Title III (HBCU) funds and other sponsored awards. This role advances the university's mission by ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, effective data management, and strong post-award administration in support of institutional capacity-building at an HBCU.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Manage post-award operations for Title III and sponsored grants, ensuring compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and U.S. Department of Education requirements.
Lead compliance activities for all grant-funded actions, ensuring documentation, internal controls, and reporting meet federal, sponsored agency, and institutional standards.
Track and document all inventory purchased with federal funds in accordance with federal property regulations.
Monitor and maintain accurate financial, performance, and programmatic records.
Maintain reporting systems for collecting, storing, and organizing grant-related data, ensuring availability for audits and performance reports.
Provide monthly status reports summarizing grant spending, progress, compliance actions, and upcoming reporting deadlines.
Create and distribute monthly newsletters for Title III and Sponsored Grants to demonstrate stewardship of funds and highlight outcomes.
Manage the full grant reporting cycle for sponsored programs, including internal deadlines, external submissions, annual reports, and follow-up communication.
Oversee the Annual Performance Report (APR) and mid-year reporting requirements.
Conduct internal compliance audits to verify adherence to allowability, documentation, effort reporting, and grant terms.
Oversee time & effort reporting (Personnel Activity Reports) for all grant-funded personnel.
Maintain and update the Sponsored Programs and Title III websites with policies, forms, training materials, and program updates.
Ensure timely submission of all required compliance reports, amendments, and prior approval requests.
Provide training and guidance to project directors, faculty, and staff on compliance expectations, allowable costs, and reporting protocols.
Provide training workshops to support faculty research and strengthen grant readiness across campus.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Public Administration, Education, or related field.
23 years of experience in grants management, compliance, auditing, or financial administration.
Familiarity with 2 CFR Part 200, federal reporting requirements, and grant compliance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively within a culturally rich HBCU environment.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting institutional effectiveness, equity, and student success.
Supervision
This position reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs.
Salary Range$50,000 - $56,000 Annually, plus benefits!
Position Status
Full-time; in-person.
This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding and satisfactory progress toward grant goals.
