Hot Bar Lead (FT)

Hot Food Bar Lead Melville, NY The Hot Bar Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hot bar, ensuring all food is prepared, presented, and maintained to the highest quality standards. This role plays a key part in leading the team, executing production plans, maintaining food safety compliance, and driving profitability through efficient product usage and waste reduction. Key Responsibilities Oversee and execute daily hot bar production in alignment with established recipes and menu plans Ensure consistency through proper portioning and strict adherence to recipes Manage team schedules and assign labor to ensure optimal coverage during peak service times Plan and organize production for current and upcoming menu items with a focus on freshness and efficiency Maximize profitability by effectively utilizing ingredients and minimizing waste and shrink Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with all health regulations Regularly monitor and log food temperatures to meet company and regulatory requirements Utilize compliance systems (such as Plumsense) to track and maintain operational standards Ensure the hot bar is fully stocked, visually appealing, and properly maintained throughout service Oversee timely replenishment of all hot bar items to maintain presentation and availability Track, analyze, and manage shrink to improve overall inventory performance Remain highly organized and focused during high-volume periods, ensuring smooth team coordination Support additional kitchen operations, including food prep, inventory, and cross-training Communicate effectively with a diverse team, including English- and Spanish-speaking team members Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required 23 years of experience in a culinary or food service leadership role, preferably in a retail or market environment Strong knowledge of hot food preparation and culinary techniques Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team Familiarity with food safety practices and temperature monitoring systems (e.g., Plumsense) ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak business hours What We Offer Competitive pay Flexible scheduling Medical, Dental, and Vision (for eligible employees) 401(k) Plan 50% Lunch Discount 25% In-Store Shopping Discount Opportunities for growth within the company Working Conditions Frequent standing and movement on hard surfaces for extended periods Regular bending, lifting, reaching, and other physical activity Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance Work performed in a busy kitchen environment with exposure to equipment, noise, and temperature variations (ovens, coolers, freezers) Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $20 - $24 Hourly
