Job OverviewThe Teacher Online Learning will provide direction and support that will ensure student success in the online learning environment. The incumbent will provide students with appropriate learning activities, resources and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will actively monitor and track individual student progress, providing mediation and direction as needed. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinate student registration into online courses, including working with school counselors and school/district administrators to ensure students have the necessary prerequisites for the course and the course fits into the students plan for graduationImplement digital courses/lessons that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum programCoordinate with the campus data specialist/registrar to ensure all course completions and grades are properly recorded and reflected on grade reports and transcriptsProvide an orientation for all students prior to their first course so that they understand the expectationsAllow for accommodations for differences in student learning stylesPresent subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulationsPlan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assignedConduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities as neededWork cooperatively with special education teachers to modify as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirementsAssist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habitsAssume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assignedSponsor outside activities approved by the campus principalAct as a positive role model for students, support mission of school districtCreate classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of studentsManage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPsTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesAssist in selection of equipment and other instructional materialsEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, counselors and teachersMaintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community membersUse acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearlyParticipate in the District staff development programDemonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsibleKeep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachersCompile and maintain all reports, records, and other documentsAttend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committeesArticulate the District's mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the missionDemonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needsParticipate in department and district meetings and initiatives as neededIf the position is tied to coaching a UIL sport, the following essential duties and responsibilities are applicable to coaching:Perform coaching duties as assigned as well as other duties required for the smooth, efficient operation of a successful athletic programPossess knowledge and adhere to UIL rules and regulationsAssist the Athletic Department with budget, schedules, care/use of facilitiesCommunicate with the Athletic Department on a regular basisSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
