Senior Java Developer (Java 21 Modernization)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Modernization Engineer to lead the modernization and upgrade of legacy J2EE applications to Java 21. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring, AWS, application modernization, and hands-on experience using OpenRewrite for automated code refactoring and migrations. Mandatory SkillsStrong experience in Java/J2EE development Expertise in Spring Framework / Spring Boot Experience with Apache StrutsStrong knowledge of Maven Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server or Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty Hands-on experience with Docker Experience using OpenRewrite for Java application modernization Strong database experience with Oracle Database Experience working with AWS Cloud Services Hands-on experience with Claude Code/CLI or other AI-assisted development tools Proven experience upgrading legacy applications to Java 21 Prior experience in J2EE application migration and modernization projects
Responsibilities:
Upgrade and modernize legacy J2EE applications to Java 21.Analyze and refactor existing codebases using OpenRewrite and modernization tools.
Migrate applications running on WebSphere to modern runtime environments where applicable.
Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring, and AWS services.
Work closely with architects and business teams to define modernization strategies.
Containerize applications using Docker.
Optimize application performance, security, and scalability.
Leverage AI development tools such as Claude Code/CLI to improve engineering productivity.
